This is interesting, I was thinking of building another 365 or 372 with extra parts I've gotten together, but this has caught my attention now.

I enjoy any frankensaw. Necessity is still the mother of invention. Won’t know if it sucks till you try.

The problem is usually case capacity to Jug capacity even if you can make it fit. Look at what happens to an 1128 Stihl when you up the bore to 52mm, the saw has a totally different personality.

The 262XP has had a 52mm 038 Mag jug transplanted by others before. That’s one that’s not too difficult to do either, but not sure if if will offer anything much for all that work. Adds 10cc.

Go Stihl or go home Steve-O. Lol...
That's what happened to the one I built ran great till the case blew out:angryyell::angryyell:

Actually that is a small mount 362 with 390 crank and 390 jug. Runs pretty good.

Doesn't take a whole lot of work to get a 390 crank in one, but only gain one millimeter of stroke.

That pretty *f-wording awesome though.

I remembered you posting it quite awhile ago. It's an impressive running saw.

Liking this thread. Would be interesting to watch the build whether it’s been done before or not. No derail intended, but I’m having similar thoughts about putting a 288 jug n slug on a 272. Base is very close without mods, just need to figure out the bearing thing.

Yeah I gotta imagine putting 6203 bearings into 6202 pockets ....and keeping them aligned properly is really the trick. I dunno how I'd cut that accurately enough to have an interference fit with the 6203 bearings so as to not have an air leak.

I think you could use 6003 bearings if you wanted - they are 35 x 17 x 10 and would accommodate the 385/390 crank and still fit the standard bearing pocket in a 372 case. They may not have as long of a service life though.

That's some awesome info right there! I have most everything here to build such a hybrid.
Have to wonder what seals would work best? I assume the PTO side could stay the same, just have to bore the bushing out?? There's not a lot of meat there to work with though and it's probably hardened.
