This is the first time I've come acrossed one that isn't a straight tube. Why the bend? And why in a way that bends the impulse line?

Any pictures to show what you’re looking at?
Sorry my bad for not having a picture. It comes out then bends to a 90 then another 90. I don't like how it's bending the impulse line. But that could just be my OCD lol 4043.png

I think all 372 are like that. Never noticed it being a problem as long as you use good quality black fuel line
I've never seen it like this. Even the new case I just received from sawagain has a straight brass barb. As for the line. I have come to really like echos fuel line for a impulse line. I like the pliability to it.

Is that a new aftermarket case? Think I have a bent barb like that in my small parts bucket.

If this is an after market case then I would be extremely pissed off and also Leary of buying anything new. it's got the Husqvarna H on it and was 180$ with nylon caged bearings pre installed.

It’s definitely an aftermarket versus OEM thing. Every OEM 372 case I’ve seen has the 90 bend in the elbow.

Just looked and several aftermarket cases have the straight barb like this one from Duke’s

This one claims to be new OEM for $260 at Wolf Creek and it is straight. So I don’t know

What’s the difference between a 371 case and a 372 case? There is a difference.
The difference between the 71 and 72? Well from what I can recall the oe cases are shorter with shallower lower transfer feed ports. From 371 to 372 only major difference I can recall is the chain adjuster. on the 371 it's up front and in the case. while the 72 is a side tension on the clutch cover. Other than that I can't think of what else could be different.

371’s have one gusset supporting bearing pocket, 372’s have two gussets. 371 had case failures at bearing pocket area. Difference in 372xt and 372oe is cylinder depth pocket and can be corrected with a little grinding work.
