Case is together. Used the case bolts to pull everything together. Not the most ideal, but it worked. Looks good. Flywheel seal is installed. Time for a break. ...ie... time to work on the mill lol

I like the idea of that tool, how many saws does it work with??

I've used it on everything from a 066 to a 550xp. The flywheel side takes a different tool. And it does not work on as many different saws. That's where some of husky's special tools come in handy.

Probably not a wise investment for a guy like me then?? Basically I'm just a hobbyist who works on saws for friends on the side from time to time... I've been doing well with a 10 ton manual press, deep sockets, and hot/cold. They slide right together like butter.

I've bought in a couple service tools from Husky for the serie I mostly work on, they wasnt pricey.
Most times it's same threads on flywheel nut, it aint that many different threads on PTO side.
A few service tools cover lots of Huskies

These tools are pretty pricey........but when you pull one together it's a slick operation. I use the Husky case splitter far more than I use these tools.

I actually made a case splitter in a pinch awhile back. The design was descent, but the materials I used proved to be not up to the task. Ended up taking some of the money I made from the aforementioned side work and bought a real case splitter

Randy..are you using heat on the case to pop the race in and then the special tools for the crank? Iv seen some push the race into the case with a press and not warm the case up. Cant tell if this was because they had a press of they just don't think heat it was needed. I have both so open to thoughts ?

Simon, sure you can just push them in with a press. But in my opinion and limited experience compared to many guys here, I don't see why one wouldn't use heat to make the process less stressful on the components, particularly the cases. I heat the case bores with a propane torch, and in most cases I don't even need the press to push the bearing in. Without heat, they go in pretty hard, risking galling of the bore, or breakage of the bearing bore shoulder if you aren't real careful not to give it that one more push to make sure it's seated all the way. Just let the cases cool off and tighten up the bearings and you are ready to put the crank in and get the cases mated.

I use those service tools from Husky to drag in the crank with (I also use them to slam out the crank + heat gun)(each cost around 30-35$):

254/257/262 to the left (can be used on 357 etc)

I need to make a set of those Tor.... I can ... just gotta do it :(
I know how it is with little time Matt.
Most can make them, problem is mostly PTO threads, but when you first have started to make them Matt you wont quit to use those tools.
I'll probleby buy in 1-2 more sets and get a friend of me to make the other things I need, 346 and 550 is probleby those I feel I should get.
