I’ve owned a couple of these trucks and love ‘em - no matter what my wife says!

Here’s specs on my daily work truck for my owner/operator logging business:
1999 2500 24v Cummins and NV4500 bolt action behind it. Has Dana 80 rear. Not a perfect truck, but dang close. I use it as a tool, and it gets used hard hauling equipment, fuel, and driving off road over rough terrain very often.

My 01 2500 with the 360 Mag, sold that and got a 98 3500 with the 24v. When the frame cracked I sold it my buddy and I’m currently running a 95 Chevy C1500. 04175056-3F54-4FA1-A2B4-E7986580DCB1.jpeg9A01B059-8CD5-473F-8035-AF260A334B71.jpeg
I miss this black truck more than the dually, but I got my money’s worth out of both of them.

I've owned almost a dozen 2nd gen dodges over the years, I bought a ram 2500 brand new in 1995, and a ram 3500 brand new in 1999.

I've had three 2nd gen's with the 53 block, never had one crack, and I worked them hard towing.

You only ever hear about the ones that crack. You hardly hear about the ones that don't crack.

My 1999 3500 had 53 block, worked that truck hard, sold it with just over 500k on it, block never cracked.

This 2000 had almost 600k on it, when I sold it. It was always hooked to a trailer hauling & working. Guy I sold it to had over 700k on last time I talked to him, 53 block and all.

1998 24V with the 53 block (owned this one for almost 11 years) it had almost 450k on it when I sold it.

I just saw it in town last week, still going strong.

If either of my trucks had an Nv4500 I would have never sold them. My old 24v is still running strong, I changed out the carter fuel pump immediately and put an Airdog direct replacement on with a fuel pressure sensor and never had any issue with the injection pump in 3 years of running her. Always started in 20 degree weather with no grid heater or having been plugged in.

No real issues until the the frame got a hairline crack where the steering box mounts up… which cursed me with the death wobble at any speed over 45 if it hit a bump. A good friend has 3 2nd gens that don’t run and one he pays his bills with and he was the first person to put an offer in haha
