A little creativity and steering wheel puller becomes flywheel puller.

Buffers are shot.
Looks like someone was this deep once before and cracked the case trying to remove one.
Are these just push fit into the retaining holes?

They should be screw-in. Husky makes a specific wrench for those buffers and the back plate on them has slots for turning.

That's going to be a problem as most of the back plates are torn off.

That helps too.
Appears to grab the lower steel as well.
Perhaps I can make a tool to do the job.
Sadly, I have to mow the lawn.

As long as it grabs the bottom one, it won't care who made the tool.

Buffers came out fairly easily with needle nose pliers.
PTO side seal was torn all the way around.
Bearings, cases and crank in excellent condition.
Fuel tank is split right up the middle way up under the trigger. Don't think it can be saved.
I will take the trigger and associated parts out for further inspection, but for now, I'm going to watch some football.
