Plastic welded the intake elbow. It’s kinda like tig welding. Worked out for this NLA part.

Tossed an 8 pin on the saw as well. The old 7 has seen better days for sure.

Almost there. Gotta get the tank cleaned up and install a new fuel line and filter in it. All OEM of course.

Doc , whats the allure of these saws ? Are they like a pro model 55? Is the size pretty significant from other models?
They look fairly nice to work on.
Great power to weight ratio. Dependable.

Easy design to work on. They got it right with the 2 and 3 series. Then things went awry IMHO

Saw bit me a few times. may dial back the ignition advance a drop.

Summarizing the work done:

Case split, new oem gaskets and seals, new Nachi 6202 C3 bearings
Any weak or stripped fastener hole repaired w timeserts
KS ND jug, ported. SQ .017
105/120/78 timing
New Meteor piston w Caber ring
New OEM 199 carb converted to 87 linkages w retained ACC pump, 120 needles, 87 throttle plate.
New oem fuel line and filter
OEM Coil and flywheel. Timing advanced 050 key
Recoil rewound w new Stihl OEM cord
All parts cleaned
Red mesh AF
NGK plug
16” B&C 3/8 .058 w Oregon 8 pin Rim

Washout of a weekend. Will attempt a video, but I don’t think there will be a rain free minute this weekend.
