My saw is a 261cm from 2017.

I purchased the kit #1140 007 1802 after reading threads like this https://opeforum.com/threads/261-362-462-661-mtronic-info.18639/

When it arrived (here in Canada) it specifically says that it's for the 362cm, and doesn't mention the 261.

I found a Stihl technical reference online (google "Stihl Technical Reference") and in it it has this blurb:

Now it seems like the consensus is that it works on the 261, but is it safe? Why would their technical reference say NOT to use it? Possibly they want to get rid of old stock (black solenoids) first, or can it cause issues?

Curious to know if anyone knows anything about this, and if people have had success with the white solenoid.

I’ve used them in two 201tc and in a 261v2. Mine has been fine and the other two never came back so I’ve had good luck.

I took a 201 rear handle I bought and before I even fueled it I swapped the black solenoid for a new white solenoid to see what it would do..runs perfect over a year later..

That puts my worries to rest, thanks guys!

What do you put on the o-ring when installing? Drop of mix oil?

I’ve put the white one on a few problematic 261’s and the problems went away. Good so far.

Just smear some oil around the outside of the solenoid and twist it back-and-forth a little bit as you get it seated tight

I rebuilt mine with the white solenoid and orange fuel filter, no problems at all. Think mine is a V1.

Can I take credit for being the white solenoid pioneer ?
