I looked at the Mtronic Ver. I and there is no way you could flash new Software on the integrated ECU with SDS and the original Stihl Bluetooth Adapter.
But they changed the MDG1 in Germany and now it some folks say it has the ability to flash Software on Mtronic Ver. II ECUs.

The rumor I hear is they already have the replacement for the MDG1 (in Germany) and are working out details for a swap program with dealers that have the old version. If true, that should be kicking off soon.

Nothing. Port work and good combinations is where the magic happens IMO.

I'd like to gain control of the max timing advance to defeat built-in rev limiters. Other than that they work fine as is IMO.

@retro I'm a german dealer and the MDGs were swapped in August.
We had a little problem with our new one and are waiting for a new one (Windows Bluetooth stack crashed while I was updating the Firmware and now it is just a brick)
estimated delivery date: unknown

The MDGS are the same and the old ones from the german dealers get a bluetooth upgrade and go to foreign dealers.

I heard this was going to happen also. No clue when or what exactly you'll be able to change. I just assumed that if they made a change to some parameter in the module, you'd be able to just update it through the mdg1 instead of swapping for a new coil.

I have the feeling the availability to change settings is already there. I am betting the current software is the limitation. In my world, limiting the software abilities allows the manufacture to keep control.
Just the idea that the current software can "Reset" the saw electronics to factory tells me there is more available...

But there is also an End of Line mode in the Software. (its not available through the normal User Interface)
The current reset to Factory is the same thing you can do without the software its only a dumb timer and some shiny pictures.
It knows you started the engine and the lever is on triangle position and counts down 90 seconds.

I didnt try the new Mtronic II reset on the MS 462 yet. Im waiting for a new MDG1
