THAT'S the spirit!I've done worse. Lol
this going in one direction from now on.Went to my dealer and ordered all my parts, I saved about $20 going through him. Thanks for reminding me @RIDE-RED 350r . The only part I’m still hunting for is the heat deflector, they are NLA. Can another deflector be trimmed to fit??? I searched feverishly for the 257 that was there last week and I’ll be damned if it wasn’t gone. Grabbed this basket case 262XP instead, I was just going to buy the flywheel off of it but for what I paid ya’ll would’ve brought the whole thing home too.

I was actually thinking about putting that top cover setup on my 254. I like the clip cover low topCarb can be used on the 254, I might know a guy interested in the top cover assembly, filter holder, and clutch.
Not sure I’ll look later this eveningWhats it got for cylinder and carb?

I have the filter holder, if I can’t find a 262 half wrap the cover will be up for grabs and you have dibs. You would have to use the filter holder and a 262 half wrap, the 254 half wrap is too short.
Crap he’s right. I’ve been gathering stuff up for the 371xp my son and I are gonna build when he gets back healthy enough to come out in shop and while gathering and waiting I’ve come up with stuff to build the 371 and have been putting together a 365 in the same process.this going in one direction from now on.
254, then 262, later a 242 and 272, on the way for parts you pick up one 246, 257, 266, 268 and so on........and while you are there you gotta build them up
Glad to hear little man is up and running again. That was quite a stretch of illness. We got lucky on our dealer, he’s the only one close by and we’ve built a good relationship with him. That’s not a delay lol. My build is in a delay. But wife said this morning that my sons fever is gone. So maybe our build will resume. Anyway I need some good dealers down here like y’all got up there. Instead of all these junky stihl dealers..........
Mocked up the 262 top cover and it’s only 3/8” taller than the 254 cover. Doesn’t sound like much but it’s just tall enough that my knuckle hits the cover if I rotate my hand. Another thing I noticed was I would need the 262 intake partition because the cover isn’t shaped the same in that area. Could pr Baby trim the 262 cover to make it fit the 254 partition but I don’t like hacking stuff up if I don’t have to. I’ll definitely use the 262 cover, just won’t be right away. Sorry Joe, @Onan18 I’ll be keeping it. Mainly for when I build that 262
