Stihl bars will work but require a larger DL count than for Stihl.

Always assume some mods are needed. It's not too hard to get a new drill bit to drill some holes at very low rpm. Taking off the bar plate can help line up where things need to be. Just be sure oil won't leak out of the bar. I tried putting a Stihl bar modded to fit a 2511t on a Echo pole saw, but the different design of the pole saw let the oil run out with minimal oil pressure going to the chain. Dry chain, but wet mess dripping from the bar mount. In that case I had to with fill some holes with JB Weld, and drill new ones, or find a different bar, which I did, the one it is supposed to take.

*&^$$ you been?!
Life has been lifey. Working too much for aspluhnd/utility, dads dementia and passing/moving mom into retirement home/ clearing out old house for renters. Quit the utility job for a normal one handed tree trimming outfit that works 4-10s so back to having a life. Although the side jobs are already stacking up. And I got 3k linear feet of fresh redwood 2x6 from my last job for my new deck. And 6 saws in pieces for porting, but you know, i like to stay busy.

Sorry bout the parents, tough deal. Good to hear you’re good otherwise.

This is an interesting thread, but I'm not too sure that I'm buying the idea that the OP is a tree care professional. No tree pro I've ever met in the last 30 years would ever take the time to clean and perform maintenance on a saw. Who are you kidding? 😀

On a serious note....when you are working up top, what size wood do you want or expect a top handle to cut before bringing up a larger saw?

Roughly 12” if doing multiple cuts. You can finesse up to about 16” if you’re patient. The saw generates a lot of heat cutting at max bar length. Combined with the tree guy cleaning/maintenance schedule (none), I think maxing out the bar length repeatedly is how these saws get smoked.

About the only time I want the 201 is when I’m doing repeated face cuts in the 12-16” range. I usually bump straight to a 50cc with a 20” bar.

Tree guys clean their saws. They leave them in the Bucket with the cover off in rainstorms then let them soak all weekend.

Here’s some discussion of the 2511t I’ve been using at work for the last 4 years. I did minimal mods to it before putting it into service. Hopefully it gives people an idea of how these saws hold up over time.

Fair warning, there aren’t going to be many pretty pictures in this thread. Lots of chainsaw funk.
I’ve stripped this saw down to the block about once per year and cleaned it.

Obviously it needs it again.

That’s probably the 4th or 5th tank vent and this one is shot. I wish they lasted longer.

Same deal on the caps. That’s at least the third pair. I have had the oil cap pop off in the tree many times. The keeper gets into the threads easily and gets cut. This oil cap is leaking.
I talked to a tree service owner they have several 2511s for a few year's now
The most reliable top handle they've had he was telling me.
I was surprised to see neotec is making 2511 clones that's the newest saw I've seen them copy.Screenshot_2024-03-07-00-06-28-953.jpg

I've never wanted a clone saw till this. I'd set one of these up for a 1/4p pruning saw, simple BGD/exhaust/AF mod and it'd be plenty for fruit trees and ornamentals. He'll if it broke down and blew up in the tree, i'd have a hand saw and i wouldnt cry at that price. Don't have FB, any info on when that would come out?

Are there any good progressive depth gauges available in the quarter pitch platform? I thus far have a pole saw with a quarter pitch chain, looking what worked for you guys should I expand my collection.

Says it fits the panther chassis only. I don’t know what’s different about the panther chassis but I imagine a little file work on the outside or inside width of the legs would allow it to fit other chains

Stihl!
There is a thread about them here somewhere.
They were in high demand for a while and now no one mentions them no more.

I never had any luck buying from alibaba
But have bought several saws from AliExpress
I can't find these on alixpress Screenshot_2024-03-25-12-14-33-443.jpgScreenshot_2024-03-25-12-14-15-027.jpg
Thankfully they blurred out the serial number Screenshot_2024-03-25-12-14-00-294.jpgScreenshot_2024-03-25-12-13-43-284.jpg
I'll buy one of these myself.

My 2511 is back to being a booger about the H tune now that the weather is warming up. I’ll fight it tomorrow in the bucket.
