I know this is an old thread, lots of good info though. Just curious on the post above me, do you file the entire key. 011 or just the half that contacts the flywheel? You rotate the flywheel counterclockwise from it's starting point? I know these are amateur questions, any help is appreciated. I'm also looking for a (cheap) muffler to mof for my 242xp (would like to keep original in original condition), I will post a wanted ad in the classifieds.

File the portion above the crank. Install the key so the flywheel can rotate further counter clockwise
