So what is the difference between a 254 and a 257 and should I be interested in a 257 ?
Not sure about a 254 but the 257 I had was suprising with the torque...
But just get a MMWS 346 and you will forget about another 50cc saw.

254 was the pro and the 257 came later and was more of the firewood type saw. As similar as they would seem are two entirely different saws. Something can be done with anything, that said the 254 is tough to beat. There's not a lot of choices for parts and a lot of stuff is drying up, whatever you decide, a saw in better condition up front will cost a lot less in the end. It's easy to put $500.00+ in parts into a whooped loggers saw, so...
