I sanded .012" off the base to get .020" squish with a gasket. Can always take another 4 off.

If you are gonna go tight, you gotta make sure it's right. And that the squish band is true.
I'd sand the squish to true it up, then resand the base to set squish. If you are using solder, shave it down to just above the measurement you want. If you still feel the solder after a turn or 2 it's too big and not compressing to the true squish measurement and it's tighter than you think.

I have sanded the band a bit, with 220 grit, just to smooth and remove any imperfections.
It looks true. The solder I use is .024", can't even feel it after the first roll but I usually roll the crank 3-4 times.
I measured the band at both sides, front and back- all the same within .0005"

That's perfect for .020.
I did one at .016 or so I thought...
I could still feel the solder after a bunch of turns, so I shaved the solder and rechecked it..

Hey, was just expressing my thoughts, but I'll live with the rules. As a few have stated, there are various ways they could have gone.

Hopefully I'll get a cylinder that has good #s + squish.

I'm sure I would be in way over my head in class 1, and class 2 would just be "forgetaboutit"! That said, I'm pretty sure I'll try to go without a base gasket no matter how they cylinder starts out.

There might be a good chance you'll get a good cylinder with a decent squish. I haven't checked this one but on 2 others I had a squish of .023 without a gasket and with a fairly flat band. But I did notice my band was plated this time and not on the others I had

On my first farmertec jug the base was .009" out of being perpendicular to the bore and it was corner to corner. One of those things that would be hard to correct without a lathe. At least they're cheap.

So what's the ruling on backpack nitrous bottles? I'm not competing, but it's been in the back of my head for a future build...

Run any fuel in Class 3.......or oxidizers.

I guess what I mean is does the saw need to be all self contained or could a guy show up with a backpack nitrous tank, nitrogen tank, fuel tank as a self contained thing with a line running to the jet on his intake.
