Hi ,

I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with using this setup with a ported saw ? I realize it's a 50cc saw. Cutting 95 percent softwood and alot of limbing black spruce and Jack pine.

Thanks

I have run the 20" .325 setup on a stock 50cc saw and it did fine. Currently my 350 has a 20" bar with a nk chain on it that I use to noodle with and cut wood that is likely to have some dirt in it. A ported saw would work well with the 20" b/c.

Right now, ive been running 20" 3/8's on my ported 2153 and it pulls it just fine. I like having that extra bit of reach when limbing.

That was my whole idea for the longer bar. All I got is birch , jack pine and black spruce. The black spruce and Jack I cut dead standing and burns great but wow the limbing is exhausting at times And I'm rarely cutting stuff over 12" dia.

Thanks for the input , I'll post my results here soon, it's been below zero last 3 mornings so no cutting yet

I see no problem with this, except that the balance of the saw will be adversely affected. At least pick a 20" bar that is as light as possible.

Consider having a 16" bar as the standard setup, and use the 20" only when needed.

A 20" laminate bar balances pretty good on this size saw.

Not really, and it also depends on which laminated 20" bar it is about (no, I don't know which one is lightest - never looked closely into this). Nose size and profile does matter, but there are other factors as well, including actual length (78 - 81dl variation).

Have you ever used a 20" laminate bar on one of these saws?
