272 Husqvarna

I copied these from there prospective IPL's, so I'm going to say for sure they are 5mm as I know the 272xp is.
I just order from flea bay https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fr...Marinetex.TRS0&_nkw=marine+tex+epoxy&_sacat=0where did you find marinetex
Be curious to know if they are a smaller diameter. In other words could you use a smaller tap.HL Supply now has some thread repair inserts that look worth trying in both 5 and 6mm versions.

Those ez lok are usable and work well but you could blow the side of the case out if you were not steady
Well call it the same size. But cheaper8mm tap, for 5mm threaded insert.

I have filled a couple of holes for the top cover screws on my 288 with JB Marine.
Those that have drilled and tapped for a helicoil, did you risk a handheld drill or go to the trouble of setting up for plumb on a drill press? I'm thinking the travel limits on the drill press could be beneficial, but a tape-wrap on a drill bit is time proven too.
I think it would work. What about just gluing an insert (press fit, or threaded) into a freshly drilled hole with JB instead of the extra step of tapping the epoxy? Would it work well? I'm not sure I want to buy an other tap for fixing one saw if I don't have to.
