$10 Chainsaw Found At The Dump

[Vintage Engine Repairs]

I go to the local dump to find engines I can repair and onsell and came across this as new ferrex chainsaw. It’s an Aldi cheapie, ($150).


I paid $10 for it and got it home. It doesn’t have a high idle setting for starting and so it doesn’t cough / splutter on choke so it’s easy to flood. I think this was the reason it was dumped, the previous owner couldn’t get it running. Bar and chain is original and in as new condition as is the rest of the saw.


A quick sharpen and it cuts really well. Besides the hateful quick chain adjust / tensioner in one that is convoluted to use, I actually really like it

A guy gave me this one to fix three years ago:

You can't even remove the carb without taking the whole saw apart, and maybe that won't work either. Nice and clean, but a complete basket case. I gave it back to him without batting an eye.
