You can stroke the 084 /088 the problem is in the balancing.and Al Smith cliff is still building saws and so far they are the saws to beat I'm building a 088 and 090 160 cc saws right now

I’ve got this and an 084, I’m tryin not to lose to them 3140’s. How much can you stroke an 84?

You put that on and it will be alot more cc than 140

Your looking around 600.00 your better to leave it stock stroke if you're going to put a 090 on top of it

Some times people get concerned about bluish discoloration on the crank pin end and assume it's because it some how over heated .It didn't .That's termed running the colors from being under heat from an induction heater .Automobile crankshafts are the same way .After 29 years of working in an engine plant I've seen thousands .

Well, they ain't exactly makin more, so if you are gonna do 3120 better hang on to that'n.
There’s a guy in North America that has a whole lot of them.

And apparently the full race builders are actually using a different rod now.

Interesting. I’ve been trying to track down info on that. I heard that Cliff and Ed started using something different than 084. That’s why Ed sold off most all of his rods. But I’m on the fringe so it’s all been hearsay.
