I've got this 084 on my bench that this guy basucally gave to me that runs and doesnt look all that bad but needs some TLC. I'm p&v'ing testing it and giving it a good carb cleaning. The oil pump does not have a hose on it, don't know what one looks like, and there is no number for it in the ipl. Furthermore, the manual oiler does not work, all the pieces there and the line is connected to the oil pump. Does anyone know ne have a pic of the oil hose, what it consists of and does it go all the way up to the groove at the top. The ipl said 6.7" so I assume so. Also, fix for the manual oiler. It has no tension to it. Thanks.

There's a shutter inside the oil pump housing with a spring that the manual oiler cable hooks into. It may have just come unhooked or the end of the manual oiler cable may have broken off. The spring may have broken but that's pretty rare. The oiler hose is that same style of hose as what comes on the 036 and 064 (just much longer).

Also, the manual oiler just maxes out the oiler. It doesn't give it an extra squirt every time you push it.
One I worked on had varnished up inside the oiler and was stuck. I used some cleaner to wash it all out and works good now

Is it supposed to have tension and spring back when you pull the thumb off the manual oiler? Man, I hate them things!! Lol Will it bend enough to go on the nipple? Also, the nipple is not barbed like the 036 nipple. What keeps it on there?

It's supposed to spring back.

Usually those lines are so hard they won't come off

Anybody got a trick to make this job a little easier!! Lol. I got the cable freed up (it was stuck) and was experimenting with the oil hose. Have I told anybody lately how much I hate those things!! Would some fuel hose work or would it just kink up and suck in? Or do I have to lather the stuffin out of the hose with some grease to get it past that turn?

Yeah, I was talking with a guy who said he tried that and it didn't work. But I don't know how hot his water was. So I'll guess I'll boil some water and find out. I know that lines some tough shat. I just hope I don't kink the line.

If it's like the hard 036 hose use a heat gun to soften it up a little. I used a 1/2" copper cap for capping off a water line and used that to press it into the barbed end. That doesn't kink or mar the end your pushing on.

I've heard you can make a pliers to do it but I don't plan on doing it too often to make one.

There's a spring inside of the 036 line that possibly helps it from kinking. Not sure if the big saw oil hose kit is like the 036 kit, but they give you enough hose to do it twice.

it comes with the line, the spring, the brass ferrule for the bar end of the line, and the instructions

No need for a drill press. Just clamp pliers in the bench vise. Then centerpunch the spot u wanna drill and drill by hand with any drill you got.
