Soo, picked up a new to me 066 yesterday with a 24" granberg mill from the list of craigs. Saw was located about 5hrs south of me soo i had a friend that lives down there go and pick it up for me. Thanks to apple and facetime for letting me look the saw over while my friend did the transaction. Haha! looks to be in great condition, surprisingly better than i thought it would be to be honest. Has a bunch of compression, and started on 3rd pull. Should have the saw in my posession hopefully this weekend. Was wondering if someone could check the serial number to date it for me. Sl# 134989273.

Oh, and $500 bucks out the door :) with a new es 28" bar, 2 newish chains, oil, files, the granberg mk3 24" mill, and 14 feet of rails for the mill. How did i do boys?!5105.jpeg ?

That would have been a very good deal just for the saw alone, with the mill, etc, GREAT DEAL!!!

Enjoy, I have been milling with 066/660s myself, but none of mine have remained stock.

One has to wonder how yours would do one-on-one with my 064 AV, both running 3/8" pitch chain on a 36" bar. It's amazing how similar they look. Yours has an Elastostart pull that I need to install on my 064.

Congratulations on your purchase. These saws are all worth owning. Treat them good and they will treat you good.

Well since u brought it up... haha!! If i plan to only mill with this saw, is it worth getting it ported? And if so, just normal port work or should milling saws be ported different?

The porters can port for torque instead of speed. And, a muff mod and timing advance, along with a low restriction air filter, will also likely help quite a bit. Be sure your carb does not have limiters (or remove them) and adjust accordingly.

I was looking at the mill, and other mill type thing (top mill?). Your 24" mill does not show a push handle. And the other thing seems home made, I'd be very interested to see how it compares to shop brought

Cheers
And like others say what a bargain :enamorado:

I would not port it, just do a muff mod and perhaps an airfilter upgrade.

The compression increase on a ported saw adds heat, which is your enemy milling.

I was curious about this also.. the mill does have the name granberg mk3 cast into the side of the parts. Soo i know what the product used to be at least.. haha! Im just not sure what he has going on with that top handle part or whatever it is. But for the price i just said ill take it all. Haha! As soon as i get my hands on it, ill be able to figure out whats going on with the mill.

What does compression bump have to do with porting?

I would port it for grunt, aka: area and 24* blowdown, with no machine work and 0.030 squish with no timing bump. Keep intake 78* or less.
Questions?

Only judging by the pics ive recieved so far, but i believe its a no decomp saw. And in the pic of the bottom of the saw, it appears to have a black kill lever. But not for sure tho..

,I dunno,, looking at the pic's the top cover has a hole where the decomp would be. As the same top cover ive got.
But that's assuming the top cover is an original
