We have 160 acres and we try to do that ourselves. Our neighbors across the road from us drive hunt for our whole 9 day gun season and if it's brown it's down.
That is good and bad, lot of times here if there breeding they won't move,he will stay locked down with her for a day or two and if you are lucky someone will bump him to you.

Most of the true giants are killed that way,if something doesn't make him move he wont.

We have alot of cover! When I say cover mean 12 ft white pines 2 ft apart mixed with blackberry, raspberry, thorned Aspen and black locust. We try to place our stands with the runways from the neighbours. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

That's what we do for gun season.
We hunt where deer cross instead of where they eat. That week here there's no telling where you will see him at

My dealor told me that if I'm working on loggers saws instead of them that they won't sell me parts or work on any of the loggers saws that I have worked on.

Taking there business I guess.
It got very loud in there for a little bit, I by nothing from them and neither do most loggers. I get everybody's parts off ebay.

I had a similar situation. I have a friend that works on my saws or any OPE. He is older and works out of his garage, not just for me but others too. He went to work for the only Stihl dealer in town. After being there for a year or so the dealer got wind he was working on my saws. He had conversation with my friend, unknown to me. The next time I went to my friend's house, he said "We need to talk." Make a long story short, he told me he couldn't work on any of my Stihl equipment anymore based on conversation with his boss. He was almost in tears about it because we are more than just business, we are friends and talk about more than OPE. I assured him no hard feelings and nothing would come between he and I. Funny thing, I do not (never have and never will) take any of my personal equipment to the dealer to get worked on, so the dealer accomplished nothing. I have started taking our church equipment somewhere else also. I still drop in to see my friend and buy a chain every now and then.

My neighbor has worked for stihl for 35+ years as a warranty tech and engineer,he works at the distributer in town, they are not allowed anymore to purchase any parts from the warehouse for fear of them fixing somebody's saw or using there discount to help someone.
He has a building full of parts but if he didn't he would have to buy it from the dealor in town.

Amen bro. Thats a message that I adhere by. Unfortunately I don't have that much real estate and the little ones roam off the property only to their demise. If you get a 120 here in Md thats a good deer. Lots of deer, just not too many big ones here in Carroll Co.

120 is a good deer here also,it took lots of work and money and discipline between several land owners to get to where we are.
It takes years but it's worth it, like I tell everyone, shoot the doe if you have to shoot one

There are too many does here. The balance is way out of line. Most of the bucks either get shot or die trying to breed the does. When I moved into my house 20years ago somebody shot a freakin monster that died onmy property. Haven't seen one like him since. There is only 1 Stihl dealer I deal with. Hes a little independent dealer who has taught me alot about chainsaws. The big dealers can kiss my butt. One of em I went to school with. Hes a good guy just ruthless in business!

The only husky dealor around here is a stihl dealor too which seems strange

Mine is too, but all he carries is Husqy push mowers. He doesn't carry the riders any more due to Lowe's carrying them. I asked him why he doesn't carry saws, he told me "Stihl won't really let him". I assume he gets a better deal from Stihl if he doesn't (carry Husqy OPE).

This one is called the family Center in Farmington mo.
Every stihl saw, even 2 880's in one Isle, turn the corner and there's all the huskys up to a 395xp.

There's another stihl dealor less than a mile away in a big farm store that sells all the equipment but no parts.
You can buy a 1200$ 661 there but not a spark plug for it. I remember when stihl marketed there saws saying every dealership had licensed stihl techs, evidently that ain't the case anymore.
The stihl/husky dealor that does have "parts" is Rediculous, I spent a good 10 min trying to explain to the "tech" that I needed a sprocket, clutch, the plastic bearing behind the clip at the sprocket.
After a while he said he knew what I needed so he looks up a number and goes to get it,comes back and hands me the thin flywheel side crank bearing and says, looks like it's going to be 7$ and I said I'll take it. Lol
