I remember a thread by randy about the 3120 carb mods over on AS...

Found it... :)
...it's a WG10. The carb is done.......

No HS adjustment......

But there is a pilot hole. :)

So we just stick a 4mm bolt in a collet......

Turn a shoulder on it....

Sharpen the tip with a file.....

And done......

OK......there is a little more to it than that. :D

But I can't really show it all. Promised a friend that I wouldn't post any pics of the whole process.

What does it cost to learn stuff like this????

All those carbs are trash.......only good for parts. Yeah........that was not a cheap lesson. :(

I wish I had more to share. I'm just a novice on carb mods though. I've learned that many newer "EPA" carbs have hidden bypass circuits that make using a large carb on a smaller saw anything but simple.
Seems as though these bypass circuits are used instead of the main H jet when modding. Why is that? I would think it would be better to close off the bypass and mod the H jet for what you want. But me and carbs don't get along too well

@Terry Syd and @Poleman are miles ahead of me in carb work.

Anybody ever have a saw that won't go past 13.5k? Run strong and idle good but no matter what it won't go past 13.5 or even 4stroke at 13.5
Screw the carb screws shut and it won't go past it. I've had 4 saws like that and fixed 2 but don't know what I did to fix them. I figure it's a airleak but can't find one in a bucket of water. Anybody?

On my drag bike if the exhaust pipe isn't sealed from the head to the end of the exhaust pipe it won't run right and it will act like there's an airleak. Trust me it's no muffler it's a straight free flowing exhaust pipe. Make sure it's a good tight seal between the muffler and the cylinder

I've never seen one do this and I've had 4 in the last 2 months.
I threw parts at 2 of them till they were fixed but I don't know what fixed it for sure.
It runs as good as any I got here but absolutely stops at 13.4

I got one that won't go mare then 12500-12800 my hottest saw really a jonny 630. I assumed it was porting limitations that is stopping it from revving to the moon. I suppose that your porting should let her scream so maybe it's a metering issue or a timing issue. I'm guessing it could be a spark timing issue this saw may want more retarded spark. the more I think about it may just be needing more carb.

What saw? Limited coil?

If the high side is closed off, and it won't go past the rpm, it sounds like the saw has a fixed jet feeding the main nozzle. What saw? What carb?

Different saw and carb but I had a 200t that wouldn't run past 11,000-12...welch plug was leaking. Mileage may vary.
