That is completely out of character for that for any company that sells OEM parts .Besides Stihl some of note are Harley-Davidson ,John Deere and Caterpillar .You don't suppose the after market stuff is dipping into their profits or something ? It certainly has nothing to do with the kindness of their hearts .
I'd put money on it.

I agree stihl lowered prices to compete with the aftermarket.

I had a very nice 038 super for a short time. If it was my grandads I probably would've kept it. That'll make you a good rugged firewood saw.

It's a bloody miracle I thought I'd never see .

Maybe it's a trend ? Fact just recently I replaced the heater blend door actuator on a Mercury which was better quality and one third the price of OEM . Now of course the Ford dealer wouldn't budge a bit .--oh I could go on forever about price gouging .

Most oem pistons are half what they were,I use a ton of parts in a years time and only buy meteors for huskys.

064 piston is one that I can think of that hasn't come down and the old style 066 piston, there still over 100$.

I have many saws that my dad bought new and just got a 041 and 066 that were my grandfather's.
My dad has cad in a bad way still and he's 74.

It's a kool feeling to dig one out and use it once and awhile, dad and grandpa have good taste in saws.

I think dad has every saw he's ever bought except a mac 10 10 and he said he liked it but traded it for a 056 that he still has. He gave me the 4200 and 5200 he bought new the year I was born, 1976.

I love them big Poulans, best running stock saw I ever used

I found it interesting several years ago on another forum with respect to Stihl prices .It seems the company is extremely proud of their chains .One of the members of that forum had another member from the heavy impact lumber region of either Washington or Oregon ship him bulk chain from that area .As such Stihl had adjusted their prices to compete with Carlton and Oregon in that area .Those price adjustments never made it to the farm country of northwestern Ohio .
