OK this is the vent setup that this tank dictated.

I hear you. Good points.
As far as I can tell, mine are all original. I bought an extra tank for just in case. Lol
Yes the filter presses in snug and the filter cover/cap presses onto the filter. That the one we figured out with the measurements of the base where the vent filter and cap fits in?
Those are the best finds. LolI like the mystery saws that come my way as a bunch of parts in a box. The most recent one was given to me by a fellow that should never work on equipment. He had torn the saw down 20 years ago, it was practically brand new when he did and he forgot how to put it back together but he never found out what was wrong in the first place. He should have looked in the fuel tank first....LOL
I put it all back together and it only cost me for a carb kit, maybe not necessary but did it anyway, and a new style fuel line, I made the tank hole larger and do that on all the 026`s I replace fuel lines in now.
The one I have that looks like that leaks (bad). I wonder if maybe it has the wrong cap? Doubt it, as it was basically NOS when I bought it. What I would like to do is retrofit it with the black duckbill insert, or maybe the 260 style. Has anybody been down that road?I snapped a few quick pics of my spare tank.
Which vent is needed here?
The ones in post # 58 right? That is what mine has, might just need freshened up with some new parts. I hate fuel leaks with a passion...Same filter and cap setup I used.

These are up to serial number and date change occurred. This only works if it’s the original tank.
You need #23 & 24I snapped a few quick pics of my spare tank.

What you have is the latest style of 026 valve. IMHO it's the best. I'd get a new rubber flapper / check valve and roll on.The one I have that like that leaks (bad). TY sir
Is this my best option? Only option? Or is it possible for me to upgrade to a better vent?
