Vent parts came in today. Everything fits great, here is my take on the vent thing...
These parts fit a tank that it transparent, has screw in fuel cap, not a flip, has the old style fuel line, and a black rubber duck check valve. I would go as far to say that if you know you have any 3 of the above, you probably have all of the above on your saw.

Oh yes, quite happy with the way it runs. I choke it until it sputters once, leave in on fast idle once it starts for a minute, then kick it down to idle and it just runs. Ice cold it's about 5 pulls total. It's got a new bar & chain too, (3/8' 050 ) and it cuts better than my 2149 jred and my dads 350 husky.
I think those saws are pretty fair to compare with. Of course if they got the same amount of TLC the Stihl gets the gap would close between them I think. IDK if I mentioned it earlier but I found this saw in a scrap metal dumpster sitting in 4 inches of water. Everything rubber was shot, very little compression, no bar & chain, a few missing parts, and a brand new NGK spark plug. So someone tried before I did.

Hey everyone. Just thought I'd throw my 1.5 cents worth in here. Similar situation as the OP way back when...... recently acquired a used 026 (my first Stihl) and didn't realize it was leaking fuel out of the vent until well after I got it home. Fuel vent has the black duckbill, sintered filter and shot white cap.

Found this thread and felt a deep pain in the wallet when I saw it cost him 25 bucks in parts to fix it......that did not fit into my calculus of cost/value in this saw. I bought a new duckbill for about 3.50 or so hoping that whould cure it.......nope :(.

My solution......I dropped a small o-ring (10mm I.D. x 1.5mm cross section) between the duckbill and the filter and reassembled it........no more leak:b1:. For whatever reason, the duckbill was not able to stay tight against tank. The added height from the o-ring is allowing the filter and cap to press down on the duckbill and keep it tight against the tank.

I hope this helps somebody. Only time will tell if it leaks again.
