It's not as loud as I thought it would be. I tried to upload a video off of my phone but I keep getting an error message.

It runs real nice with the filter (I removed more of the front cover making it into more of a square, the modified airfilter and advancing the timing). It has more attitude now.
I like attitude I still need new rings for my oh26pro and I'd like to get a pop up made vs all the jug cutting work

Heck yeah, you have a little monster there. I think yours and Colin's are two perfect (in my opinion) 026 saws. Al does some great work....that's why I've copied his airfilter and muffler mods :)

I've always had issues with making 026's run good. Never could get them to idle quite right. Last one I did was the best so far. They seem to hate me. haha
They always are a bugger with idle. I think it has something to do with the vacuum pressure changes when you pick the saw up and the intake boot stretches and compresses. That's my 2 cents worth

Same here Boys....024 and 026 on early Tillitsons or Walbro carbs seem to be the most flakey. Thought it was just me who had the slight change in idle when the saw is put down ...they seem to slow a little (some more than others) . The L needs Juuuuuust the right amount ...not lean..not to rich (or they bog when tilted forward when there picked up off the floor). Have you found the ms 260 is a bit better ? I have when there on the newer WT carb with the compensating top.

I've seen the same with the newer 260 pro too. But new av dampers sure help. I know my oh26 could use a whole set of rubbers

Its a odd thing for sure as the saws are not poor runners or ones with air leaks anywhere. Tell you what Mike..I had a almost new 024 av i bought...yup, that was just the same ! gave me a bench mark though to see if i was doing some major no no with how they like the settings . If you set the idle to 2700-2800 when warm then put one down it will drop off as low as 2300-2500 sometimes so i tend to go for 3000 rpm and then see where we are at with the saw on the ground.

I've found that setting the idle a bit high seems to help. Course then the clutch starts to grab. But sometimes I can set the idle around 3200 and be ok. Sure seems to help a bit. Also running just a Tad on the lean side seems to help. I think this design suffered from fuel puddling of some sort.

I go along with that TJ...thing i find a pain is that you have to take the saw outside of Stihl Tec Spec !they must have found what works to put it in the Workshop book ...

lol. I don't even use stihl specs or anything when it comes to 026's! Learned my lesson a long time ago. I don't even remember the specs anymore....I think the last one I set was like 1.25 turns Low and 1 turn High. NONE have been the same.

:D for sure... its more the idle rpm range that concerns me when needing to put it way higher and getting towards the clutch drag point. It works the other way round a bit to iv found when throttling down keeping the rpm from dropping back to idle sharply. If you have the saw in your hands and are on and off the throttle then there is no issue but a customer who puts the saw down a lot while moving wood about sometimes comment on the uneven idle . I asked one chap if the saw had always done this .."Oh yea".. he said.."But i thought you would fix that when the saw was serviced "..!!! explaining is never easy !

I have one that idles differently if tilted or if the brake is applied. It almost stalls when I engage the brake.

And excellent runner with no vac leak or other issues. Walbro 194

You would think there would be much more mentioned about this situation! Rich /fuel puddling bogging is one thing ,but this seems not to be always what is going on .

I always find smooth idle at higher rpm then lower rpm from there.
