And we just lost power again. We were running off the power plant at Trinity Dam, and the fire was headed that way, so we might be out of power for a good long while now.

I'm on the coast, sitting in a drizzling fog, it is easier to appreciate the grandeur of the things from here, than if my home and livelihood were threatened.
The big plume fires generate their own form of weather and thus are wholly unpredictable, they can spread in all directions at once. Wind driven fires, like last year's Tubbs Fire, that drove into Santa Rosa, pretty much stick to a pattern. Plume fires are like wandering volcanos, wind fires are like flash floods.

Power came back on just a few min ago. According to KRCR news in Redding this is the latest map of the fire. The black line is the outline of the city of Redding, the pink is obviously the fire area. The heavy blue line at the west end of the fire is the Trinity County line, and I know the fire is over that line already. Last I heard the fire was 2.5 or so miles from the town of Lewiston, which is just a few miles east of us. Obviously this map is not exact, but the best we have at this time. Very smoky here, but still fairly cool... the smoke is keeping the temps down 5-10 degrees.

Power back on... It’s growing slower now, but the weather is pretty erratic, so who knows?!

Latest numbers.... 818 homes lost. :(

Hey Clint, how’s it going up there for ya?? Still on Evac notice or has it change direction
Our Marin Eng‘ Shot bumped down to Mendo couple days ago

Hope all is well

Erik
Were doing okay here in Weaverville. The fire is growing still, but at a much slower rate, away from Redding (towards Lewiston area). They moved a bunch of helicopters to Weaverville and the smoke cleared enough that they could start dumping water on it.

We are still ready to go, but I don’t think we will have to evacuate. The power was off and on for a few days, but the last couple of days the power has stayed on. Highway 299 is still closed between Douglas City and Redding, and they don’t know when it will reopen.
