When I say standing on hot asphalt I mean paving... Hot black top will test a pair of boots like no other...I've seen boots curl up and never straighten out.

Danner super rainforest. We get An annual allowance at work for boots and work clothing, so that helps ALOT.

I have gotten several boots over the years ,have tried 4 different danners now ,the quarrys made my feet hot,made over seas i think ,the bull run unlined felt like cheap boots ,tried them for summer ,hated them ,got the rain forest ,they had a grey lining and a plastic inset on the heel ,they were ok and stayed waterproof a year but were used up to me in a years time ,now i have the super rain forest ,they are thicker and have red 200 thinsulate lining with removable insoles ,much better boot than standard rain forest ,leather is thicker ,and broke in very fast ,wore them on 90 degree days and feet were less hot even with thinsulate in them than my uninsulated boots ,i usually get a new set before winter every year ,not sure i will have to unless i want deeper vibram treads for mud,i hose my boots off every day ,to clean the souls out ,and have yet to leak water ,i never put any waterproofing grease on them either .

another plus to the super rainforest is that they are all stitch down construction not glued down. I bought mine at the danner store here in Portland Oregon and they gave me a repair warranty for a year. You have to be careful with some of the $150-$200 range danners. Ive seen some quarrys that are made in usa and some that aren't. my buddy bought a pair that were the china ones and they were junk. hollow heels and waterproof for maybe 6 months. just look for that little American flag on the side of the boot when shopping for danners.

I wear Danner Boots for duty use, and Carolina Loggers for everything else. I have had them all, Danner Boots in black last a very long time. These Carolina Loggers in brown have lasted 3 years already and still kicking strong. made in the USA for both.

Muck boots are neoprene knee boots they are warm as *s-word and very comfortable they are good for lots of situations where it's wet or cold. No good in the woods the neoprene can't handle heavy bryers. I always have a pair they run bout 100 bucks on up. They aren't like "gum" boots but you can use them in any situation you'd wear gum boots. I've even worn them pouring concrete highly recommend them. Everyone round here has them

At least they have lasted 3 years. Maybe they have an American plant manager at the Chinese factory.

Lol. They are good to go for another 3. Still in great shape. Heels are getting a little worn on the corners. Soles are still good.

Yup. Got it. I really like Danner. I have worn them for years. I was a little hesitant to buy them for a logging boot though. I don't know why.

Yes.

I am on hard surfaces most of my day.

I don't wear these in the woods. I've got a different boot for wood cutting/hunting/camping that has served me well through the years.

The thing with Danner Boots is that they are comfortable right out of the box. The break in period is very short. And they last. Take polish really well. And use good leather.
