I wonder if the vp oil on E free would yield different results ? If somebody wants to pay the shipping , I'd be willing send someone enough to mix a few gallons 40:1 or 32:1 , for a tear down.

JMS posted these a while back and I put them in my file bank - stihl 064 run on VP canned 40:1 fuel.

about 2 months ago a 661 came into scott's shop for porting, run on VP pre mix. The top of the piston looked like the pictures below. Some carbon build up on the EX skirt. But what got me what the muffler looked like the sahara desert. Bone dry, sandy looking light brown DRY coating and build up. Never seen that before. Even Scott @tree monkey was surprised.

Be nice to see some more take downs on the stuff since it seems to have a good reputation.
That saw was ran hot/lean.

I get a good bit of carbon from the VP stuff and their oil in e free 87. It never was that dry in the muffler but I don't have any mtronic saws now either.

Would that be just mtronic specific Mike? I am guessing that with a carb, one could easily have fatter tune.

Possibly. Never seen an autotune run that lean. They usually run too rich for my liking.

The fact that piston has no wash and red bulls description of the skirt and muffler leads me to believe it was a lean condition and the results are not indicative of wether VP is a good oil or not. I have lost interest in continually trying new oils so i wont be running any.

Here is a second hand Stihl BG55 blower that has burned 2 gallons of VP @32:1. For the first part of it's life it had just any 2T oil used in it. It was definitely dirtier on the piston top and exhaust port before VP was used.

I think Kansas is about as far north that you.can find it.

It’s starting to creep into Iowa. Found it last summer. Of course I’ve worked down south the last couple summers. I’ve forgotten all about Hellmans [emoji2][emoji2]
