ZEP branded purple cleaner will etch aluminum in minutes. Some that generally won’t at a certain temp will react at a higher temp.

A dip in ZEP will make a ported jug look like used factory. Had it happen in error. @Fruecrue 046 jug did just that.

Putple Power attacks aluminum and turns it blackish in color as it corodes.
I've been using mean green lately, some of the orange cleaners are good for pine pitch.

There are actually a few different ZEP purple cleaners (confusing, I know). The one(s) with NaOH (sodium hydroxide, lye) clean grease fast, and is what I use on my chains. Aluminum and magnesium, of course, are different.

I like mean green the best of all the solution I have tried, doesn't dicolor alluminum like others, but make sure it's mean green and not simple green or other variants, I get mine at Dollar general for 5.00 a gallon, I use 2 gallon of mean green and 1 gallon of water. I ahev the same brand as Mastermind, but mine is 15 liter version, larger is nice but can get costly replacing solution. I want to try 1 gallon of mean green to 2 gallon of water next, I use to use 3 gallon of pure mean green, haven't noticed a difference since going 2:1.
I use the 50/50 mean green to water and it works great! I have the same one that Masternind has.

How about LA's Totally Awesome cleaner? You can get it at dollar general. I have used it on my dirtbike and atv, works great. I'm wanting a parts cleaner but interested in the ultra sonic cleaner as well.

It’s the foaming from the aluminum reaction, not the US waves.

When the top of the USC looks like whipped cream, pull everything aluminum and mag out ASAP.

I almost learned the hard way. Thank god it wasn’t an overnight soak.

I have a small one I use for cleaning my brass for reloading.
Its kind of expensive, but the RCBS cleaner does a good job of getting the carbon and burnt powder from the cases.

For carbs i use Lumanox, a medical lab cleaner.
PH neutral and made for soft metals.
No residue, parts come out squeeky clean.
Not cheap but for carbs, guns, some jewelry it cleans great.

My USC is a Kendal, Ebay unit with knobs. Holds aprox. 1 1/2 gallons.
