Been shopping for a tiny saw. Primary job will be a live aboard on ATV & tractor. Occasional limbing duties.
12" bar.

Ready to cut used top handles are tough to find around here under $200.

Can I buy a brand new MS170 from northern fool and put a 12" bar on it?
I see them for under $200.
I have an older stihl pole saw with 12" bar and 1/4" chain. (Chain uses a 1/4" file, not a 5/32.)
It would be convenient to use that B/C combo if possible.

Putting more $ into the 170 to get a 12" B/C would quickly put me into Echo tophandle $ territory, so I'm trying to weigh my options.

Some of the chicoms are rated good,
Dad uses a battery powered one for trail riding, he puts it in his saddle bag, keeps it on his Ranger also ,

He says keeps wear and tear off his good saws

A Poulan 2150 will do everything you need for about 1/3 the cost of the MS-170. $50-60 should get you a very nice one. You can get a nice Echo CS-370 or 400 from Fleabay for around $130.00 and it will be superior to the MS-170 in every way.
