That's what I had in mind when the rules where written. A 665 - 681 Solo crank in a Dolmar......fair game. But a custom built crank is not.

My plan fell through too, unless I happen to get lucky. Which is not usually the case

I've got some red cedar that can be cut into 3-4" squares for racing dem lil race saws

I'd propose 2 races: a single long cut to better compare saw power (and the user's choice of rpm), and the standard 3 short cuts which can easily be won or lost by who can transition the fastest. But transitions aren't very hard with a 5lb saw.
