An older feller that cuts a whole hell of a lot of firewood stopped by today. He had a sad sad look on his face. He told me that his little CS450 had blown up on him. In March the saw was three years old. He'd lost count of the bars he'd worn out on it.
Sure enough.....it was toasted. Sorta. The piston was a little scuffed.....but not really scored. Upon closer inspection, I found that the wrist pin bearing was busted up.....
I recommended a new piston kit (comes with the bearing).
But.....he decided that the little saw deserved to be retired. He's out shopping or another saw right now.
I'd fix the 450 and see how much more it had in it.
