Completely normal.

Just run it.
Exactly I've been seeing a lot of the newer Saw's that have been coming to me for just cleaning up and all have the same shinny spots on the piston skirts just the way it is funny tho the spots are never in the same place which to me tells me that every piston isn't perfect or might just transferring heat better in some spots than others.

All my ms460's and 660's has that wear on the piston. It's just from the thrust of the piston. Most boat engines has the piston pin slightly offset to counter that

That’s what I was thinking ...but what do I know. Lol. Thanks everybody for the feedback

Do a drop test of the piston without the rings in the bore with a lite oil film. This will test the tolerances. Does it drop sort of slowly down with a thud or does it just drop very fast? Does the piston slap a lot back and forth in the bore? Those marks look like normal wear to me, just curious to see what your tolerances are.

Cross topend should have the bases trued and squish band cut for gasket
Also the ports should be rebeveled to keep from hanging a ring
Meteor piston is a good choice throw the cross piston in trash

I would never assemble any saw (OEM or AM jug) w/o checking the beveling, but they are worse on AM jugs. Often, the lower exhaust (the part you can't see) is horrible!

I have also heard that some of the Cross Cylinders had bore alignment issues, but I have not experience that problem.
