I would say yes the leak is getting you. I recently paid 7 bucks for that fuel line.

Okay. I guess I'll pick one up from the stihl dealer . Hope that solves the problem.

Can you push on it temporarily to form a seal to get it running?

You have two issues, one is a leaking grommet on the fuel hose, the other is some sort of running issue.

The tank is vented, having a leak at the grommet is just more area for venting of the tank.

The fuel line, if it's leaking where it goes into the tank, is not a running issue. Pull the fuel filter out of the tank (not easy but doable) and pull it off the line. Put your tester on the pressure mode and you should be able to pressurize the fuel line to about 8 to 10psi. The carb should hold this pressure. If it won't hold pressure, you either have a leak in your fuel line (not acceptable) or your carb needle isn't shutting off (not acceptable)

Did you mod the muffler?

I don't remember if you modded the muffler but if you didn't, that could be your issue because if you have a muffler that just has a couple little holes in it, it won't flow enough air for the saw to run with the larger cylinder on it.

Another issue could be air gap spacing when you reinstalled the coil.

Sure the impulse line is connected properly and didn't get knocked loose?

Yes I modded the muffler . It's not starting unless I pour a little fuel in the spark plug. So it's probably the carb .. but when it runs it sounds a little odd can't really explain it though.

I stuck a bussiness card in between the flywheel and coil . Impulse line is connected.

Is it possible it is leaking from the tank vent, or did you actually see it leaking around the sealing grommet of the line?

I took the saw apart and it's coming from under the grommet .

Maybe it got overworked trying to get it back through that damn plastic partition.

Too bad the grommet is leaking, you could pressurize the tank and see if the fuel line is leaking while being hooked up to the carb. Maybe you could blow into the fuel vent to see if any fuel or air vents out of the hose.

Heck, just get a new OEM fuel line and see if your running problem also goes away.

Didn't you say you had a couple of these saws. Swap a carb from another one on it.
