Yesterday at 7:30 am i get a call telling me to get up, we are going fishing.
I have not been able to go for almost a year so my 2 fishing buddies insisted i go with them.
We had good weather so it was pretty around the outer islands and creeks.
Most of the outer islands are protected and a few in private hands so no houses, golf courses , docks and people.
Miles of creeks and salt marsh with animals everywhere.
All this is only 15 minutes from the boat ramp. Ramp is only 5 minutes from house too.
We have an expression, We need to get off land for a while. It keeps us sane sort of.

We did catch a few fish too.
I brought home 11 nice trout and a flounder which fell into hot oil.
The best eatin in the world.

We have started taking a photo of us as we leave the ramp and a fish pic afterward.
We are getting older and you never know when your last trip will be.
We lost a good friend 2 years ago so we now take a pic and stop by one of his favorite drops just because.

Gettin old ain't for sissies.

I have made the most of this holiday, ate with mom and uncle/aunt in the country, shot dove with family, went fishing with good friends.
Today is for cutting up a few 30"+ rounds with the 461 then relax and prepare for work tomorrow.

If the tap roots on yours are anything like ours that's the way to do it. I had one about that size stop my IH TD-6 dozer once. Neighbor laughed said he'd be over with the D-5 Cat. An hour later he wasn't laughing anymore.
I don't have heavy equipment to remove stumps, I remove them all like this utilizing worn out chains - it is the chains death punch before I toss 'em in the scrap bin.

I rarely remove stumps, luckily.
It is a crappy job.

Just relaxing today, the predicted snow has started … kinda … with a layer of ice first. Supposed to come down right through tomorrow. Glad I'm semi retired and don't have to deal with the commute. Going back and forth into NYC on days like that was He$$. Often 2+ hrs each way, which was a major reason I decided to retire when I did and just be self employed as a Tax Preparer. Only real busy for 2.5 months, and it is all local.

Thing about Walnut is if that taproot is big enough. Makes for some fancy gunstocks.

It was not too huge but still well sized, no idea whether it would be worth turning.
The walnut tree itself wasn't all to big yet, but owner wanted it gone because of the huge amount of leaves and the lawn level for easy mowing.

I only removed the roots that would have been above lawn level, still a pretty big one in the fourth picture second from the right.
