I have a good oem 254 cylinder and meteor piston if you are interested in that.

To bad you have some much invested already. I have a very nice ported 254 for sale. They are very nice saw's stock and just monster's ported. Good luck on your build.

Thanks for the offer, but the mission here is to see if an AM piston and cylinder can be made to run as good or better than the original.

Yes it is, that idea was floated early on, and was quickly dismissed, he wants that saw fixed, period. Even though only a hand full of parts were salvageable, common sense and economic viability were the first to go right out the window. Thanks again for the offer Toad22t, once again I'll have to pass.

Is it time to break out the 395?

I can't beat either with the 395.
There's 395's out there that will but mine ain't the one.
It will be hard to beat the hybrid with any bar but especially a long one.
50" of new rs 404 full comp doesn't really bother it at all. It's turned way down to, only 13.5k

Haven't been posting much lately, but been reading alot and working on a 2150. Started out as a 2145 and put a 45mm 350 jug on. Base gasket delete, .018 off riser, .08 off band. Numbers are 105, 122, 76. Squish .018. Has the 359 carb and intake boot. Used the 350 intake elbow and mesh filter. I sanded inside of elbow to match carb. Advanced timing 1/4 key

On the riser I ground it out to match case then filled it in some with jb weld to get some volume back. I played around with this a good bit to get my clearances but good flow. I'm at a point where I'm not seeing much gains anymore. So I think I'm about as far as it will go with what I have. Some pics of the work.
