The only problem with Scott's build threads is if he keeps doing them and demonstrates his competency to the masses, you may have to wait months to get a saw done cause he will be so dang busy!

You run your 550xp yet Kieth? They are pretty impressive stock, husky got many things right with that saw. Did I just say a stock saw is impressive.

I agree 100%. Ive ran it stock with 18" .325 and was impressed. I opened under the declector and ran her and was impressed. I finally ended up opening the baffle up in the back side of muffler and put my 16" Cannon picco bar with PS chain on and man I was shocked! This is one saw I can say I could live with stock but after reading through Randys 550xp thread on AS , I wont be able to leave it just MM because I know theres more psi in there hiding!!!

i really appreciate all the manual/hand machine work you do on a saw. all builders here do an excellant job, and get superior results, but there is something to be said for a guy doing all this without a mill or lathe. i can appreciate it, as i have six months of evenings/weekends on the head, intake, and exhaust on my c16 cat engine. good work here!

I've built lots of stihls by hand but a husqvarna you need a lathe to cut the base.

Sure is an impressive saw with just a MM under the deflector and the rear baffle gutted. I like a 16" Cannon bar with PS chain. It really spins that chain in the cut and keeps rpm up
