Besides the saw looking like a space ship, do you notice any difference in one of your saws with a HD filter vs stock filter?
The filter is better media and won't let anything past them. If you're milling I would say it's worth it. Firewood I don't know so.

Count me in....of course some of us will need to be dropped off at a lower floor than you guys.

We contribute Dewey, by sending the doctor new victims....I mean patients, to hack..err, I mean operate on.

Some of us have been under the knife so long its almost like we've never seen the saw........

Ok boys as soon as the pics are fixed I will post some pics but let's get into some litigation till then. For a good work saw that's torquey and easy to run I really like the 102/130/80 numbers. As I try to learn more from everyone's pics and studying as I truly need a 681 cylinder of my own. But that said let talk the transfers and exhaust height on these just a tad. Hopefully mike and randy will jump in here.

On exhaust height I build these on a lower exhaust for my loggers than I do for wood cutters. Here's my reasoning I've found with all else being the same so to speak a 104 exhaust height saw will run really close with a 100 degree exhaust saw. The difference is you have to work the 104 saw. The 100 degree saw does the work for you. Does that make sense. I'm not talking huge differences here but noticable. The 104 saw when felling will start in the cut much easier than 100 degree saw. So this all said let's here some thoughts.

On transfers so far I've liked the the 28° of blow down. Now I've tried this in a different since as well. Setting the intake at 127 exhaust at 129 for an average of 128. Or 128 straight across the board. I couldn't tell differences in these but then again! Lol. But here's where my thinking goes. If you open up a 461 or 661 the exhaust side trans opens first. This is where I really would like to hear some theroys. On a 7910 the exhaust transfer pretty much blows a little back and flat across the piston. The intake transfer blows more up and back.
You will learn especially with randy I love talking theroy!

I like a higher exhaust than you do. I go for 30° of blowdown. I go 96-98 in most. I did a few at 100-102. They ran ok but were slower than the higher exhaust saws. The 96 exhaust will still pull a 28" bar easily.

The 104 saws I can get away with a shorter blowdown. And as the exhaust height goes up to me anyway seems like you need more blowdown. Once you hit the 100° mark an unlimited coil is nice as they like to bounce of the rev limiter. Lol.

I don't think I've sent one out with the exhaust at 102°. I tore it apart and put it at 98 or 100. They will be on the limiter in small wood or when you lighten the load a tiny bit.

Dam limiters. Hopefully Bruce gets us hooked up shortly! I liked how the Mutt ran. Awesome job on it. I would like to run it with a 28" bar. I ran it with a 20" and a square chain IIRC.

I've built 2 more Just like it now. They're fun to run like that. He ran it with a 28" somewhere.

Mike Lee is known for building a stout 7900. I'm still learning them.......but I've build some that pinned my ears back.

I'll share my way, and hope Mike Lee, and Carl Miller will be along to share some of their ideas.

This is a saw I did a few weeks ago.....

Oh........where did that come from. That ain't a Dolmar.

I have always been a fan of yours, and very much enjoyed your posts, work and videos. You build Em and see the insides and outs. How do you Tate the 7900 As a saw? I'm curious because I've eyeballs them awhile.

I like them a lot Norm. They are different than either a Stihl or a Husky though. You need to find someone that has one and get some trigger time.
Thanks buddy. Saw a few here in a rental fleet awhile back looked well built. I have kinda wanted a 9010 for awhile.
