I, too, use low pressure air to clean the filters and seldom separate the halves. I was getting some fines in the intake so that's when I greased both the seam and intake where the filter fits on. Totally solved the fines getting in. I also did this on my Jonsered 2152 and Husqvarna 555. My 371XP has a much better system that needs no such messing around......

Yes, filters could be better, I never saw a Husqvarna 371Xp,
had me 372Xp though.

I have an ash log lined up for cookie cutting, smaller diameter than that big knotty beech I ran my XS5000 in, should make for some nice vids.
The big beech log showed the saws power, the ash should show her speed.

Just gotta catch a break and get some play time, always something coming up messing with my weekend plans.
What oil ratio are you running in the 5000, not wanting to start
an oil debate though.

40:1 as I use in all my saws, still on my first tank though as this saw is too pretty to use as a beater.
I don't know what ratio Kevin would suggest, most likely 32:1.
No idea what ratio Sondre used either.
I'll have to ask Kevin what he recommends, I'll use whatever ratio he recommends.

I think 40:1 should be fine with a quality oil.
I use red Dolmar and Makita 2-stroke oil.

I run 32:1. But 40 is fine with that oil

I ran 40:1 Dolmar oil when I used it.

Sounds good, I use 40:1 too, unless it’s a very small saw.

I had the opportunity to test this saw in my daily work last year, and found out that the carb boot was a weak spot. It tore multiple times, on two different saws causing lean mixture. It produces a very distinctive screaming sound when accelerated. I'd encourage you to keep an eye for it...

All three carb boots tore at the same spot, while doing tree felling and limbing in sub-zero (celcius) winter conditions. My own conclusion is, that the boot might be too short, and breaks while being under tension and vibration. Could it also be, that the low temperature lessens the flexibility of the rubber/silicone or whatever material, causing it to tear.
