Should have checked this saw out a bit earlier..my apologies to @Whitty21.
Was going to get some photos to send off to Whitty21 as a little eye candy for him. Decided to pull on the saw a few times to get it started up.

Just a quick back story first though....
This was my first big saw purchase. A guy about a half hour away was selling a 288xp, and realistically, went to buy that. Upon arrival, the seller stated he couldn’t get the 288 started, so offered the 2100 in its place. I needed a bigger saw for bucking up some 40” fir, so I purchased it.

Then I purchased a 36” bar and chain, and proceeded to buck up some firewood. Good family friend (basically a father figure) needed a bigger saw for a while, so I let him borrow it for a while. At some point, the auto Oiler hose, behind the muffler melted away. Previous owner used yellow fuel tubing. The saw has pretty well sat since then.

Decided to start it up...started, but was racing uncontrollably. Obvious air leak. Can’t send off a raffle “parts” saw, so I decided I better tear into it.

Wet all the way to the flywheel

Base gasket had sealer from the cylinder to gasket...but no sealer from gasket to case. Whitty21 has opted for a gasket delete. Wondering if I should throw in a new set of cabers, just as a bit of a freshening. Also noticed carb intake gasket is questionable.

Looks okay to me considering that saw was made in the late 60's .Remember they really don't have a very good air filter system .

Hey guys. Busy long weekend. Stoked for the new saw. As for @Al Smith's concerns, like my other 2100, it will be running a v-stack with a UNI.

Which reminds me.

Paging @srcarr52. Can you hook me up again?

Well, Whitty21 got the saw. I probably should have dug in a little more. A bit of play in the bearings, and clutch side seal was shot. :(

Like I told Frank in PM's, this kinda stuff happens and I am glad to give it a new home. I doubt this will be a swift rebuild, but nonetheless I will get to it. Need to source a case gasket, looks like partstree has them, but shipping to me inst awesome.

The clutch side seal did have a roll in it, which was likely why he was having idle issues with it.

I didnt notice the play in the crank until I was trying to pull the flywheel to check the other seal. I thought it had come loose nice and easy, but it turns out the flywheel was moving in the case. Oh well
