This was matched up on a new chain, and that's what the angles come out too, not sure how it will cut but i got a starting point anyway.

Really glad to see this here. I just got an older Granberg to square file with. There's a video on YouTube that outlines it very well.

Well fellas I'm not gonna pretend to know what I'm doing here but this is what I came up with. It cuts very well so I'm happy. This was a fairly new round filed chain originally.

Your low with the file & need to have more downward angle on your stroke.

I gotta try one of my used .325s and see if I can square it. Looks cool!
Just curious, does cutting into the side plate weaken the chain? I guess what I am asking is, is it still safe to use?

The little bit of rubbing you see in chips pic is fine. How far is too far? I don't know. Haven't had one break yet.

The thing rivet can be deceptive on how much meat is still left on a link if you hit it with the file. Like @concretegrazer said the chain should be fine.
