Couple of questions for the peanut gallery:

1) Isn't .016 kinda tight for squish on a saw of this size???

2) Did you say you used the Huztl piston with the Cross Cylinder, and is a possible their dimensions are a bit different?

I've heard of 880's being run at .015

I thought .016" was tight as well, but why not, it's a race saw.
This was the cross piston shipped with the cross jug.

Yes it is.

True .016" works fine. Some stock 066 were .016-.018"

My 066 came stock at .018" with a gasket. .002" tighter isn't gunna hurt anything

I've got a bunch of 90+ cc saws with .015-.014 squish.

Runners, they are !

Marks on piston and band have sharp edges and corners. They also happen to be directly in line with the swell in cylinder wall and damaged ring.
