Did some more milling with the Flying Tiger today, and she did just fine. After making a flat edge with my MMWS 066 (Timberjig Attached) I made 4 more 2+1/4" thick 7.5' long Hickory boards today (up to 16" wide) with the Tiger.
The cuts don't take that long, but she needs to be refueled after every 2 cuts. She is not bone dry empty, but does not have enough for a 3rd cut. This is dead, dry, Pig Nut Hickory, really tough stuff, so I'm really pleased how she went through it.
I also leaned the saw out a bit today, I had purposely left it a bit rich for break in. Now my HL Supply Tach was showing 13,680 several times. Don't want it any leaner than that for milling!
Also discovered that the Timber Jack is an excellent tool for removing the bark before you even get started. Just put that point between the bark and the wood and work it length wise, and it really gets you started. That Hickory bark is tough as nails, figured no use milling it! Besides, when you peel it, it catches the saw dust and gives you a smooth surface to kneel on while milling!
Good job there Mike!
