Well since the other thread isn't coming to fruition any time soon I'll post these here instead...

Left over from the 52mm 590 jug attempt

4.5" cube to start

Roughed in the intake/Ex port angle

Then drill the hole that will become the bore. 3 step

7/8,1 5/8, and a 2" 4 flute core drill. Put the lathe in low and let er eat :)

Used the junk base peace to transfer the bolt pattern, and scribed the outline.

Started roughing to shape.

Rough out around the ports, and above the ex. I can turn all the fins on the lathe. Well the top 5 fins anyway.

Looks great Joe.
Thank you.

The extension is the sleeve diameter. 2.189

Once I get the jug finished the sleeve will get faced off with the base of the jug. Once bolted down the sleeve can't slide unless the head blows off.

Anybody have a link yo a preferred spark plug tap? Or use a timecert/helicoil?

On the 2149 head you started, I bought an m14 tap and tapped the hole. Peasy

Joe, why/how do you have that kind of tooling? I haven’t seen that outside of a full on machine shop
Who said it wasn't a full on shop?

Well it used to be anyway, 15 years ago.
Just do the portable work now.

Was setup for big stuffs had a bigger lathe and 3 larger floor mills, still have one in the corner just in case.

The drills are used in our portable drill.

Talk about "exciting" drilling a 2" hole 20" deep with a 300lb drill, stuck on with a magnet...

Pucker factor goes way up tapping 2" holes with that drill and a tq multiplier.

No wonder why when you’re bored you decide to machine a whole cylinder
