Looking at some surface area fin calcs...

Ain't no way I'm out smarting them on this subject.

Gonna try my best just to copy the stock fin arrangement.

Obviously the iron sleeve will have some effect. But hopefully I'll be in the ball park when it come to jug cooling.

Got one fin almost done.

Must have got a little carried away with the feed.

That was pretty loud!

Jug tried to leave the lathe lol

Good thing I left stock to fix it

But that was the last cut off I had here.

Probably didn’t like that interrupted cut.
No it didn't. Hop, skip jump and wiggle lol

Then it caught. That was a piece of d2 I found already ground close. Dome plain hss should be better even if I have to re dress the edge a coupe times. Little bit more forgiving.

Think I am gonna try a couple case fed boost ports above the intake

Like this.

They will be closed off by the sleeve.

If nothing else they will help lighten the jug.

Well got a bit more done on the fins...

Ain't gonna be purdy. Getting a ton of deflection on the bit. Not staying very uniform.

Ought to do the job still.

Tip: Cut the fins first next time.

Thank you.

Have a feeling, that bit I got from you is gonna get a workout...

Think i need to finish the top of the jug next. Get the spark plug pad/hole in, then cut the chamber.

Set rough squish.

Then start carving out the outside transfer tunnels.

Have to get the base holes dug out so I can bolt the jug in the fixture to bore.

I'll bore it to 52mm transfer the port timings I think I want. Mount it back in the fixture to bore for sleeve size.

Carve out the sleeve, drill/tap intake, and exhaust holes and it's done. Lol

Put the hybrid in the hands of a faller, dropping some trees at my uncles.

He had never run an echo before, didn't know they still made saws.

Ran 660's then switched to 395's with a 24"

I asked him to try my hybrid. 24" 3/8 light bar.

He ran 3 tanks through dropping/ limbing to finish out the day.

He said it was snappy, torquey, light nimble. And he wanted one lol

He wanted bigger dawgs on it and a 20" bar to drop/buck some smaller trees tomorrow.

So I swapped the 620 cover on for the extra dawgs. See how he likes that setup.

Told him it's not for sale yet, just need someone to put some time on it and provide some feedback.

Never met the fella before today, figure no better tester than a stranger lol.

That should get it broke in a bit for you.
