I build high compression saws and settled on one tester and don't worry about it.

I love this thread. These compression reading are just a reference. It is only a static reading. Too much variance with hot or cold. How much oil you run. What altitude your at. But one thing for sure is the Internet likes some compression.

@Redfin thanks for taking the time on your end. The results are not deniable.
This thread was meant for nothing more than the hose adding volume debate. Who friggin knows I may have mucked something up and its wrong.

So how accurate is your gauge? Have you ever qualified it? How much is high compression? And why do you find it necessary? I'm curious?

How does it run, how does it cut/ tune?

There's a video in my thread (Stihl 026 rebuild). I would love to here what you guys think!! The 024 feels stronger. I don't want to high jack this thread.

I thought that saw with over 300 took a chit?

witch one? 440 head saw lost a crank real quick like.
361 was the first saw I was able to get to detonate, lowered comp by raising exhaust port. still runs fine.

I don't care if my guage is right or not.

It's consistent so I use it. It probably ain't right but it don't matter since it's the only one I use.

Your test is valid. You did nothing wrong. I've found the same results. So now when you post a compression reading, should a person state what length hose used? How many pulls to achieve highest reading? Please don't take my post wrong, it's not what you did at all.

I've never had a problem with high compression.

So it is ok to say a high compression saw is what is needed to perform? The higher the better right?

I don't know if that's true,I've found the higher the better but it's not necessary.

Strongest 066 I've ever ran was 230lb,but I got one that's close to it at 220.
