Lol yeah it does. I just hate when this thread isnt active. 288/281 is my favorite saw.
I wanna build a 281. I have an old Mahle non-decomp cylinder and a few other smalls. Gotta find a builder but holy crap everybody is grabbing up 2-series like they’re gold. Prices seem to have gone up on builders too.

I took mine out Tuesday and it needed a tune. And of course, the screwdriver I had along, didn’t fit in the adjustment hole. Who knew it would run that rich going from 45F to 17F outside.

Oh yeah. The husky xp bar oil that I had, that is claimed to be all season. Was thicker then honey, the tall timber summer blend I had along was thinner. I thought for sure the summer blend would be thicker.

If anything your tube shouldve gotten leaner not richer if you came from 45f to 17f. The colder the leaner all engines get. Hence why a old truck needs a choke to stay on for a bit when its cold out.
Absolutely true, I somehow missed that. Good call man

It would only clear up when I was leaning on it heavy in the cut. That’s why I assumed too rich. But I didn’t bring her with me today. Maybe this weekend I’ll get another stab at it.

:( Same here...I looked at that thing for a minute, then decided against it. I paid 250 for my 281xp in working order, and the guy delivered it to a site I was headed to for tree work in a London suburb.

Turns out it wasn’t too lean or rich. I brought the right screw driver this time. The tune was good, but I’m assuming it’s an air leak. I thought it was leaning out, but it’s a different kind of loosing power. Like it’s running out of fuel for a sec and then picks back up.

Your tank vent might be haywire.
