Going back together, slowly as I still have some parts on the way.

Ready to bolt the carb housing back on.

Don't forget the impulse...


Then fish the manifold through the plate.


There's a small rubber seal in the bottom right corner that seal the duct to the bottom of the housing.

Now, my ipl is for a non m-tron saw, but it appears there's an aluminum plate with a duct that goes over the top carburetor studs ( called a preheater plate in the ipl) and just a ring around the outside of the strato studs.
I have these ordered.
It also appears the carb just bolts right up to these, no gaskets.. could you guys who've been in unmolested 441's verify this please? @Mastermind or @huskihl

No gaskets.

the aluminum piece is a bit hinky. It points to the upper right and a rubber sleeve/boot goes over both the black plastic and aluminum pieces

I have both the plate and the boot/or duct on order.
I'm kind of impressed this saw ran without it in place with no ill effects...there probably had to be a gap between the carb and intake or strato valve somewhere because the outer strato ring was in place..

I can’t remember what the piece looks like exactly but yeah.

Isn’t there a piece that each boot slips through and holds it all as one? I remember that being a chore in itself, having to put both boots into same piece. Yours appear to be separate

It's one piece. The fuel and impulse line sit in a groove in the side. Both intake boots pull through, selector lever snaps in across the bottom.
I thought I had a pic of it separate from the housing, but I dont..

Mine was missing the aluminum plate and boot at the top of it, otherwise looks like this

Puts me at a stand still. Can't put the recoil on because I need to access the throttle cable through there.
Can't put the carb on because, well, the aforementioned part goes on before it.

I did trim the top cover and set the rest of the plastics on it while it waits.

Looking like rain tomorrow afternoon so after a morning sit in the stand waiting on a deer, I should have this thing running by evening.

Well, the rain chased me out of the woods, so here goes..

Rubber grommet goes on the bottom of the duct


Which seals it to this hole in the bottom of the housing.


The upper part goes up against this "door"



Which I have to believe that is the "winter" shutter due to the aluminum plate being called a preheater and that door being opened would allow warm air off the jug to pass through the duct.

Just need to have the white strato link positioned facing out when sliding the plate on.

A few magic words and it's over the intake.
I found its easier to get the strato through first, then connect the impulse and fuel line to it, then tackle the intake.
