Ok guys, needed some help on this one trying to figure this out.

First of all, is this coil correct for the saw? The IPL only lists one coil, and 1 carb and the manual doesn't cover M-tronic at all, like the saw shouldn't even have it?

Obviously there some tomfoolery happening at the carb..20211214_182135.jpg

So, I guess my main question at this point, should this coil have 2 spade terminals or 1?

The only replacement coil I see Ed is the 1138 400 1300b, and of course a slew of Chinese junk coils. I've never worked on a 441 - Randy @Mastermind is the resident 441 pro, but the coils
I'm seeing only have one terminal. If it's anything like the 661, there was a separate grounding wire that had two attachment points - one in the airbox and then one on the case
just behind and down from the airbox on the flywheel side.

441 was available both ways. I believe the mtronic wires have a screw-on clip where they attach to the coil, vs a spade

The carb box and everything looks fine( wires need to be tucked in the channel above)but the coil is definitely not meant for the M-tronic? I have a C already put together, I could see what the coil is under the recoil cover tomorrow.

What kind of idiot had that saw before you?

I think it's 1138 007 1008 - I found that number when searching for 441 ignition stuff. It's a kit number with the carb and ignition. Maybe it was M-tronic specific?
Yes ,but it also has the correct switch shaft in my kit which theoretically means that I could convert it to M-tronic with the right flywheel.

I believe @dall had come up with that number when he was digging for me too.

@stihl livin found me a coil and harness on ebay, so that's on its way.
If I can get this thing to run I'm planning to do a tear down, clean and reassemble thread on it as time allows.

I thought mtronic and standard 441 have different crankcases?
They do , but its very minor , like a little bump around the air deflector above the coil and some other little tweaks. If your creative you can work with either case.
But he has the correct air box for the M-tronic so its probably an M-tronic saw.
Depending on the extent someone went to "fix" the ignition if they changed the flywheel to the carb one it might be better to get the carb.
