Looking forward to reading about what you did. My 357 is only the second saw I've messed with as far as porting. The first one I did was a 372xp x-torq and it runs like a scalded dog.

Perfect description!
Just posted my thread. I apologize that it is light on numbers/data, but promise everyone to put a timing wheel on it next time its apart (which probably wont be long :) and record all the details

Phase 2 is going to happen today. Going to raise the exhaust 2 or 3°, maybe widen it a little more as well. Any thoughts on widening the intake? I almost went after it on the initial tear down but left it alone.

No need to widen the transfers, just raise a little, flatten the top & square up the corners.

Got back into it today, raised and widened the exhaust some and also widened the intake. Mission accomplished! This thing just flat out runs. 4-strokin safely at 14.4k no load and holding 12.7K in the cut with the 20" bar buried. The block I was cutting on in the video is seasoned hard maple.

Absolute kick-ass saw!!

I ended up doing some grinding on mine as well. Stock port timing with base gasket delete came out at 107/120/73. I widened the exhaust port to 68% of bore, squared the intake, and set timing to 102/120/76. I decided against raising my transfers and just focused on the exhaust and intake. I'm real pleased with how it came out. Seems to be right on par with Josh's despite my recipe being slightly different. Spooling 14.4k no load and still 4-stroking. :)

Definitely a successful day at the bench! I am still impressed with how our saws came out. I've always wanted a ported 357...cross that off the old bucket list.

Thanks for the info Fish. I didn't plan on touching the transfers this time. I raised them 2° in my initial grinding session and that's where they stayed. This time I raised the exhaust again to get a little more blow down, widened the exhaust to 65% of bore and squared the intake. Final timing ended up at 103 / 120 / 75. Man does it run! The video does not do justice to how strong the saw feels. Love me some 357XP.

I pull this one apart last night. It has the 15mm small end rod in it.
Now I just need to start collecting parts.
I think I read some places that those cranks where used up to s/n 02-0700001, but it can't be the case since your 357 is 02-10.
Anyone know how long they used the 15mm crank?

Tor I posted that. It was in the IPL I put on here.
If I'm reading the S/N right the cutoff would be 2002 of July (07). Mine is 2002 of Oct (10)

13mm early and 15mm after that and the early piston is Very ! hard to find in UK. I think you could get away with a new 15mm piston and bearing and a 13mm con rod as the bearing will stay where it should in the pistons pin gap . Theory ...not fact !

Here it is, if this is accurate then you're good to go with your 02-10 with the 15mm rod end

Yes that is correct, the IPL shows a cutoff for the 13mm being S/N 020700001.

Disregard. For some reason when I red your post my brain interpreted that you had a problem because of the 15mm rod end. Not enough coffee yet I guess...lol. sorry for the confusion.
